Boston College head basketball coach Steve Donahue has announced three additions to the team roster - 6-foot-7-inch forward John Cain Carney, 6-foot-7-inch forward Ryan Kilcullen and 6-foot-5-inch guard Deirunas Visockas.
Cain Carney and Kilcullen will enter as freshmen, while Visockas has one year of eligibility remaining after graduating from Lafayette College last month.
Cain Carney averaged 6.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game as a senior at The Shipley (Pa.) School. He earned All-Main Line second-team accolades in 2010-11. The Philadelphia, Pa., resident also played in the Team Philly AAU program.
Kilcullen averaged 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a postgraduate student at Phillips Exeter (N.H.) Academy this past winter. He captured NEPSAC All-New England Class A second-team honors. In 2009-10, Kilcullen gained All-Independent School League honors after averaging 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as a senior at St. Sebastian's. The Hingham, Mass., resident played in the Bay State Magic AAU program.
Visockas joins the Eagles after graduating from Lafayette College. At Lafayette, he played in a combined 31 games during his freshman and sophomore seasons, before missing his final two seasons because of injuries. The Kaunas, Lithuania native, who played his schoolboy ball at University High School in Los Angeles, will pursue a master's degree in the Carroll School of Management.
The addition of these three players gives Boston College 13 confirmed players for the 2011-12 season - one graduate student, one senior, one junior, two sophomores and eight freshmen.
