Anderson, Hanlan Named To Coaches All-ACC Teams
March 18, 2013
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Ryan Anderson earned third-team honors and freshman Olivier Hanlan was again the only unanimous choice on the all-freshman team as the inaugural Coaches All-ACC Basketball teams were announced on Monday.
The first, second and third team selections were made by a vote of the league's 12 head coaches. Balloting was conducted prior to last weekend's ACC Tournament and was based on regular-season performance.
Anderson ranked fourth in the ACC in rebounding (8.1) and sixth in scoring (15.1) during the regular season. He had eight double-doubles which ranked sixth in the conference. His nine 20-point games ranked third in the league and his nine 10-rebound games ranked fifth.
Michael Snaer (Florida State), C.J. Leslie (NC State), Durand Scott (Miami), C.J. Harris (Wake Forest) and Akil Mitchell (Virginia) were the other third-team honorees.
Hanlan was the only freshman named on all 11 ballots for the All-Freshman Team. He was named the ACSMA Freshman of the Year last week and was the only unanimous pick for the media's all-freshman team as well. Hanlan was the only freshman to rank in the top six in points (14.6), rebounds (4.2) and assists (2.3) among the rookie class. He ranked sixth in the ACC in conference scoring (15.7) and was eighth overall (14.6) in the regular season.
Hanlan scored an ACC freshman record 41 points in the ACC Tournament win against Georgia Tech. He earned ACC All-Tournament second-team honors
Joining Hanlan on the All-Freshman Team were Rasheed Sulaimon (Duke), T.J. Warren (NC State), Devin Thomas (Wake Forest), Marcus Paige (North Carolina) and Robert Carter, Jr. (Georgia Tech).
