March 11, 2013
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Olivier Hanlan captured Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, announced Monday by the conference office.
This marks the sixth time that a BC player has earned the honor, which leads the conference. Hanlan has won the award a league-best four times while classmate Joe Rahon has earned it twice. The freshman duo has accounted for half of the rookie of the week honors since ACC play began in January.
Hanlan averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a pair of wins last week for Boston College. Hanlan took over in the second half at Clemson, scoring 21 of his 24 points in the final 20 minutes. He went 12-for-14 from the line while adding five rebounds and three assists. He scored 18 of BC's 29 points in the final 11:21.
He then recorded 14 points, five boards, two assists and two steals in a win against Georgia Tech. He was 6-for-9 from the field.
Hanlan ranks eighth in the ACC in scoring (14.6) and is sixth during conference play (15.7).
