BC ENDS REGULAR SEASON AT NC STATE
Boston College travels down to Raleigh on Sunday evening to conclude the regular season at NC State.
It is the only meeting this season between the two teams.
The Wolfpack won both games last year, including an 82-64 triumph at PNC Arena in February. NC State also won the first meeting in Conte Forum, 78-73.
The Eagles lost a tight contest to Florida State on Tuesday night in their home finale, 74-70.
NC State won at Pittsburgh on Tuesday night, 74-67, behind T.J. Warren's 41 points.
The Wolfpack is 12-6 at home in PNC Arena this year and BC hasn't won in Raleigh since 2007. The Eagles have dropped the last four games there.
BC FALLS AT HOME TO FLORIDA STATE
Sophomore Olivier Hanlan led Boston College with 20 points as the Eagles lost to Florida State, 74-70, on Tuesday night in Conte Forum.
Hanlan also had team highs with four assists and two steals.
Sophomore Joe Rahon recorded 11 points and five rebounds.
Junior Patrick Heckmann scored 13 points off the bench while adding six rebounds and three assists.
BC held a 68-67 lead with 2:03 remaining, but Florida State's Okaro White hit a short jumper to give the Noles the lead.
Following a BC turnover, FSU burned some clock and then missed a shot. The Seminoles grabbed the offensive rebound and made a foul shot to make it 70-68.
Another BC turnover on an inbounds gave Florida State the ball back. It converted 1 of 2 free throws for a 71-68 lead.
Hanlan drove the lane for a quick layup and then FSU hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to keep the lead at three.
BC had two good looks from beyond the arc in its final possession, but neither connected and Florida State held on for the win.
LAST TIME AT NC STATE
Lonnie Jackson scored a team-high 16 points, but Boston College lost to NC State, 82-64, at PNC Arena on February 27, 2013.
Ryan Anderson recorded 12 points and six rebounds while Olivier Hanlan also scored 12 points. Joe Rahon totaled eight points and five assists.
After the Eagles scored the game's first basket, the Wolfpack scored 14 straight points to take a 14-2 lead just under eight minutes into the contest. Back-to-back buckets from Jackson and Hanlan stemmed NC State's run. The Wolfpack responded with eight unanswered points to stake a 22-6 edge with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening half.
BC countered with an 11-0 run to trim the Wolfpack's edge to 22-17 with 6:23 to go in the first. Jackson connected on two 3-pointers during the run. After a 7-2 spurt from NC State, the Eagles used an 8-1 run to cut the Wolfpack's lead to 30-27 with 42 seconds left in the half. A 3-pointer from NCSU's Scott Wood just before the buzzer gave NC State a 33-27 edge at the break.
Early in the second half, five straight points from Jackson brought BC within 39-34, but NC State answered with 10 consecutive points to claim a 49-34 edge with 13 minutes to play. A 3-pointer from Hanlan ended BC's scoring drought.
After two free throws from Anderson cut NC State's lead to 53-41 with just over 10 minutes to play, the Wolfpack scored eight straight points to begin a 16-4 run which gave the hosts a 69-45 edge with 5:26 to play. BC outscored NC State 19-13 in the remainder of the game.
Rodney Purvis led NC State with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and Wood scored 17 points. Richard Howell grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
