To mark the 25th anniversary of Conte Forum, former student-athletes and Boston College staff members retell their favorite memories on the court and ice.

Current Boston College employee Bobby Bonanno, who has assisted media relations for over 20 years, reflects on some of his favorite memories from Conte Forum.

“One of the first things I remember is I used to set up all the monitors and run all the chords to get ready for events here in Conte. That was before we had the tech and IT people, they asked if I would do it. So that’s one of the first things I would do for hockey and basketball games.

“I remember that [Assistant Athletics Director] Dick Kelley and I would do all the things ourselves and we were wondering if we would get any students to help us get the job done and Matt Taylor ended up helping us his freshman year at BC. Adding Taylor to the media relations game day staff started to institute game day employees and the process of assigning duties to specific individuals. It made game day work much easier. Taylor still works hockey and basketball games to this day.

“Dick and I would also stay late after games proofreading and updating statistics. I also remember the game against Iowa State when Troy Bell set a Conte Forum single-game scoring record with 42 points. We weren’t sure at the time if he passed John Austin for the record, so Dick and I went up to O’Neil Library and looked through all the records and old newspapers to see if Troy set the record. “
