BC Falls to Syracuse, 70-52

BOSTON--Ryan Blackwell scored16 points and Todd Burgan recorded 15 points to lead Syracuse to a 70-52 win over Boston College in a BIG EAST game at Conte Forum.

The Eagles (4-3; 1-1 BIG EAST) were paced by senior center Mickey Curley, who scored 13 points and garnered seven rebounds. Curley returned to the starting lineup after being sidelined earlier in the week with back spasms. Kostas Maglos also played well for the Eagles, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The visiting Orangemen (5-0; 2-0 BIG EAST) led 29-25 at halftime. The BC defense played well against Syracuse in the first half, holding the visitors to 37.5 percent shooting. The Syracuse offense regrouped in the second half as the Orangmen shot 53.3 percent and pulled away from the Eagles. With the Eagles trailing by five points in the second half, the Orangemen responded with a 13-5 rally and led 52-37 with nine minutes remaining. Syracuse outscored BC by 14 points in the second half.

GAME NOTES: Maglos' 12 rebounds led the Eagles, marking the second consecutive game the junior from Athens, Greece has led the Eagles in that department. This was also the second consecutive game in which he recorded a double-double ... BC senior co-captain Duane Woodward dished out seven assists and made five steals.
