Eagles Have No Problem with Central Connecticut
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior guard Duane Woodward scored a
game-high 22 points to lead Boston College to an 87-54 season-opening
victory over Central Connecticut at Conte Forum. The victory gave the
Eagles their 24th consecutive season-opening triumph.
Woodward led five Boston College players with double-figure scoring
totals. Senior forward Antonio Granger netted 16 points, senior center
Mickey Curley and junior forward Kostas Maglos each had 11 points, and
freshman guard Javier Rodriguez added 10 points. Granger also led the team
with eight rebounds.
Central Connecticut trailed by just three points (19-16) with 13:42
remaining in the first half before BC scored 17 consecutive points over the
next four minutes to take a commanding 36-16 lead. BC led 53-28 at
halftime.
BC extended its margin to as many as 37 points (75-38 with 9:07
remaining) in the second half. Junior Charron Watson led CCSU with 15 points and a game-high 10
rebounds.
Boston College returns to action on Wednesday, November 19 when it
hosts Florida Atlantic in Conte Forum. Game time is 7 p.m.
Boston College will begin its "road" schedule on Monday, November 24
when it meets defending national champion Arizona in the first round of the
Maui Invitational. The Eagles will meet either George Washington or
Kentucky in the tournament's second round.
