NEW YORK - Junior Ryan Anderson had 22 points and seven rebounds but the Boston College men's basketball team lost to #18/18 Connecticut, 72-70, on Thursday night in the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project at Madison Square Garden.

Anderson was a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line. Sophomore Olivier Hanlan scored 19 points and junior Alex Dragicevich had 10.

Connecticut had a 51-40 lead with 12:51 to play but BC was able to cut the deficit to 68-65 with 1:40 remaining. A couple of Hanlan free throws made it 68-67 with 42 seconds left, and then Shabazz Napier hit one of two foul shots to make it a two-point game.

A Hanlan drive to the hoop rimmed out and then Ryan Boatright hit a pair of free throws to make it 71-67 with eight seconds to go. Hanlan hit a tough 3-pointer to cut it to one, and a Napier foul shot gave UConn another two-point lead. BC had one last chance, but Boatright blocked junior Lonnie Jackson's 3-pointer as time expired.

Deandre Daniels scored a game-high 23 points for the Huskies (5-0) while Napier had 20.

BC (1-4) will play either Indiana or Washington on Friday night at 5 p.m.
