Men's Hoops Beats Florida Atlantic, 82-79

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Olivier Hanlan scored 38 points and classmate Joe Rahon recorded 17 points and seven rebounds to lead the Boston College men's basketball team past Florida Atlantic, 82-79, on Sunday night in Conte Forum.
Hanlan went 12-for-14 from the line and 11-for-19 from the field. Rahon was 6-for-9 from the floor.
Florida Atlantic scored the game's first seven points, but the Eagles recovered with a 10-0 run triggered by a 3-pointer from junior Alex Dragicevich to take a 12-9 lead at the 13:13 mark. The rest of the half remained tight as the teams traded buckets the rest of the way. Rahon came through with a half-court shot at the buzzer to give BC a 39-34 lead into the locker room.
The Eagles held an 11-point lead at the 12:36 mark of the second half. The Owls then went on a 19-9 run to cut the lead to 66-65 with 4:03 left in the game.
Florida Atlantic stayed within five the rest of the way, but BC went 12-for-14 from the foul line down the stretch to maintain the win. Freshman Will Magarity had a big offensive rebound and put-back with 1:25 left to make it 75-71.
Pablo Bertone led Florida Atlantic (1-3) with 27 points. Justin Raffington logged a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Dragan Sekelja had 11 points.
The Eagles (1-3) are back in action on Thursday night when they take on #19/20 Connecticut at Madison Square Garden at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
