GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Patrick Heckmann led Boston College with 15 points, but the Eagles lost to #9/10 Miami on Friday, 69-58, in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Heckmann went 7-for-10 from the foul line and hit a pair of 3-pointers. Freshman Olivier Hanlan and sophomore Ryan Anderson both scored 14 points. Anderson added six rebounds.
Boston College was slow out of the gate for the second day in a row as Miami held a 21-8 lead with 7:48 left in the first half. The Eagles turned it around and outscored the Hurricanes, 19-4, the rest of the way to give BC a 27-25 lead at the break.
Anderson scored eight of those points to end the half.
BC increased its lead to five points on two separate occasions in the second half, with the latest coming at the 14:19 mark, 42-37. Miami scored the next eight points to take a 45-42 lead and BC would never get the lead back.
The Eagles (16-17) tied the game three times down the stretch, including at 55-55 with 3:23 left when Heckmann drained a 3-pointer. Miami closed the game on a 14-3 run to take the win.
Shane Larkin led the Hurricanes (25-6) with 20 points, including 15 in the second half. Kenny Kadji had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Trey McKinney Jones add 12 points.
