BOSTON (AP) - Duane Woodward scored 22 points, including a key jumper with 33 seconds left, to lift Boston College to a 74-72 win over Rutgers in a matchup of the Big East's worst road and home teams Saturday.
Antonio Granger added 15 points and Kostas Maglos had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles (13-13, 5-10), who increased their conference home mark to 2-6 and snapped a three-game losing streak.
Rob Hodgson paced the Scarlet Knights (11-12, 5-10) with 20 points and eight rebounds. Rutgers is 0-7 in league road games and had its three-game winning streak halted.
Rutgers, which went into intermission with a 31-30 lead, trailed by 64-50 with just under seven minutes left, but rallied to close the gap to 72-71 on Eric Clark's basket with 65 seconds left.
Woodward then followed with his jumper. Geoff Billet missed a 3-pointer and the ball was knocked out-of-bounds in favor of Boston College with 13 seconds left.
Javier Rodriguez missed two free throws with 11 seconds left and the Eagles' Mickey Curley fouled Sam Sanders on a 3-point attempt with 1.4 seconds left. After making the first free throw, Sanders airballed the second one and missed the third intentionally. BC's Jon Beerbohm grabbed the rebound and the horn sounded.
