CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Sophomore Ryan Anderson recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds as Boston College lost to No. 8/11 Miami, 72-50, at the BankUnited Center on Tuesday night.
Anderson tallied his sixth double-double of the season while freshman Olivier Hanlan scored 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Sophomore Lonnie Jackson had nine points on a trio of 3-pointers.
The Hurricanes opened the game with a 12-5 lead, but a basket from Anderson cut Miami's lead to 12-7 just over six minutes into the contest. From there Miami went on a 13-3 run, gaining a 25-10 edge at the 6:58 mark before junior Danny Rubin hit a 3-pointer to stop the streak.
A jump hook from sophomore Eddie Odio trimmed the Hurricanes' lead to 10, 28-18, with just under three minutes left in the opening period. The Eagles remained within 10 points at the half as Jackson connected on a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining to cut Miami's lead to 33-23.
The Eagles scored the second half's first four points on an inside basket from Anderson and a long 2-pointer from Hanlan to pull within 33-27. Miami's Kenny Kadji then scored 10 points during a 12-2 run to help the Hurricanes build a 45-29 advantage just under seven minutes into the period. A dunk from Anderson stemmed the run.
Baskets from Hanlan and Odio cut Miami's edge to 50-35 with 8:47 left, but the Hurricanes responded with eight straight points to take a 58-35 lead with 7:12 remaining in the game. Miami held a lead as large as 28 inside of the last two minutes.
Rion Brown led Miami (18-3, 9-0 ACC) with 22 points. Kadji totaled 16 points and eight rebounds while Durand Scott netted 11 points, and Shane Larkin had 10.
Boston College (10-12, 2-7 ACC) next plays Duke on Sunday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU) in Conte Forum.
