COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore Ryan Anderson led all scorers with 19 points as Boston College lost another tight ACC contest at Maryland, 64-59, in front of 13,941 fans at the Comcast Center on Tuesday night.
Anderson also had seven rebounds and three steals. Freshman Olivier Hanlan recorded 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
After the first half ended at 29-29, neither team led by more than one possession in the second until Jake Layman hit a 3-pointer at the 9:12 mark to give the Terrapins a 48-43 lead. It was part of a game-deciding 12-1 run that put Maryland on top, 52-44.
BC responded with the next five points after an Anderson layup and a Patrick Heckmann 3-pointer, but Maryland quickly pushed the lead back to seven. The closest the Eagles would come down the stretch is when Heckmann nailed another triple with 4.7 seconds left.
Maryland's Nick Faust clinched the win with a pair of free throws.
Alex Len led Maryland (15-4, 3-3 ACC) with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Layman had 15 points and Faust had 11 and seven boards.
BC (9-9, 1-4) remains on the road and takes on Virginia Saturday afternoon in Charlottesville.
