Jay Murphy

Jay Murphy was one of the main reasons why Boston College enjoyed incredible success in the early 1980s, leading the Eagles to three NCAA Tournaments - two Sweet 16s and one Elite Eight - and one NIT in his four seasons (1980-84).

A two-year team captain, the Meriden, Conn., product led BC to an 88-36 record in his four seasons, and was a three-time BIG EAST honoree. He currently ranks sixth on the school's career scoring list (1,795 points) and seventh on the career rebounding list (763 rebounds).

Murphy was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 31st pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. He played four seasons in the NBA - two each with the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Bullets - before concluding his illustrious career in Europe (France and Italy).

Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.
