Meet Freshman Chris Shaw The lefty was drafted in the 26th round by the New York Mets
Nov. 27, 2012
Freshman Chris Shaw, who hails from Lexington, Mass., earned All-Star status and top pro prospect honors from the Futures Collegiate Baseball League in 2012, playing for the Nashua Silver Knights. The lefty broke the FBCL RBI record (45) and hit nine home runs over the summer. He was the 2012 Middlesex League MVP, batting .500 with 20 RBIs, seven home runs and a 4-0 record with a 1.20 ERA as the captain of the Minutemen his senior year.
A few summers ago, Shaw played in the Intercity League on the Lexington Blue Sox with current director of baseball operations Pete Frates. Frates saw Shaw's talent and called the then new head coach Mike Gambino to come to a game to check the young player. As Shaw says, "the rest is history."
