Online Auctions to Benefit Frates's Fund
Beverly, Mass. - Bizulu, an online business-to-consumer auction platform that transforms social media presence into a new sales channel for merchants and a fun new source of great deals for consumers, will hold an online auction featuring over 30 items to benefit the Pete Frates #3 Fund.
Frates, a Beverly native, who was a three-sport athlete at St. John's Prep in Danvers and played baseball at Boston College from 2004 to 2007, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in March 2012. He was named the director of baseball operations for the Eagles soon after and continues to travel with the team and mentor the players while raising awareness for the fight against ALS.
The Pete Frates #3 Fund was set up to help subsidize Frates's medical care and expenses not covered by health insurance.
Some of the items that will be auctioned include an autographed puck from Boston Bruins legend Bobby Orr and several signed bats from Major League Baseball stars like Atlanta Braves future Hall of Famer, Chipper Jones and St. Louis Cardinal Matt Holiday. Other items range from rounds of golf at New England area courses to gift cards from local and national brands.
Donations for the auction are also being accepted. They must be received by Sept. 20, 2012. They can be mailed to:
Bizulu gives charitable, nonprofit organizations (those with 501c3 status) and fundraisers for those organizations the opportunity to use its site free of charge to raise donations.
