Boston College sophomore pitcher Chris Lambert has earned All-America third team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers, according to an announcement made by the organization.
Just four days ago, Lambert was chosen as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division 1 District I Player of the Year.
Lambert, a righthander, posted an 8-2 record and a 2.71 earned run average in 79.1 innings of work this spring. He earned All-BIG EAST Conference first-team honors for the second straight season. Lambert tied for the league lead in strikeouts (88), while ranking fifth in ERA, tied for fourth in wins, second in opponents batting average (.216), fifth in innings pitched and second in complete games (7). He went the distance in his last seven outings and won his last four BIG EAST starts, including a one-hitter against Pittsburgh on May 4. Lambert earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors three times in 2003.
Lambert will be pitching for the Chatham A?s in the Cape Cod Baseball League this summer.
Boston College finished the 2003 season with a 33-21 record.
