Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior Anthony Melchionda and sophomore Tom Bourdon of the Boston College baseball team were voted to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference second team on Monday, the league announced. These are the first such accolades for both Eagles (22-33, 10-20 ACC) and the first for BC since 2010 when Mickey Wiswall was selected to the first team.

Melchionda, a shortstop from Braintree, Mass., started in 53 games for the Eagles in 2012 and was named ACC Player of the Week twice. He led the team in runs scored (39) and was second in batting average (.310), slugging percentage (.476), on- base percentage (.389), hits (65), RBIs (35), doubles (17), multiple-hit games (21) and tied for second with six home runs. His batting average was tied for 20th in the ACC, while his .339 league average ranked sixth. He finished his career with 205 hits, tied for sixth in BC record books, and 117 RBIs, tied for ninth.

Sophomore Tom Bourdon

Bourdon, a centerfielder from Simsbury, Conn., led the Eagles in batting (.324), slugging percentage (.529), hits (79), RBIs (37), doubles, (18), home runs (10), total bases (129) and multiple-hit games (22). Both he and Melchionda tied for the most multiple-RBI games with eight. His 79 hits on the year tied for fourth on BC's single-season list. He also finished the season first among all ACC players for total bases, third for hits, tied for sixth for home runs, and 13th for his batting average. His six league home runs tied for fifth. He recorded a career-long hit streak in March and April with 12 hits and three RBIs.
