Baseball Hosts Duke in Final Home Series

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College baseball team hosts Duke in its last regular-season weekend of the 2012 season. Thursday's game will be played at 2:30 p.m. at Eddie Pellagrini Stadium at Shea Field, while Friday's contest will be at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday's game at 1 p.m.
Saturday's game will also recognize the Eagles seniors playing in their last home game at BC.
The Eagles (21-31, 9-18 ACC) split a non-conference, two-game series with Fordham and lost to Maine, 9-4, on Tuesday. The Blue Devils (19-33, 7-20 ACC) dropped three conference games to No. 7 North Carolina over the weekend and lost to Presbyterian, 3-2, on Tuesday.
BC holds a 12-6 advantage over Duke since 2006, when the Eagles joined the ACC. They are also 6-3 at Shea Field and completed series sweeps in 2007 and 2008. Last year, BC took two-of-three from the Blue Devils in Durham, dropping the first game, 10-6, but rallying to win the next two, 5-3, and 6-4, in 11 innings.
Bourdon is third in the ACC with 74 hits and second 121 total bases. He ranks 17th with a .322 batting clip while Melchionda is 19th with a .315 average. Melchionda is also one hit away from tying for seventh all-time in BC record books with 201 hits, while Bourdon is two hits from 10th place on the single-season record list, currently with 74.
