Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College baseball's 22nd annual game against the Red Sox on March 3 will be broadcast on NESN. The game will be played at 7:05 p.m. in the brand new Jet Blue Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Red Sox open the 2012 spring training season in the brand new ballpark. The exhibition game against the Eagles marks the first game televised game from the new stadium.
The two teams have met for the past 19 years and also played in 1916 and 1933. While the Sox have won each previous meeting, the Eagles had their best chances to win in 1999 and 2002, when they lost by just one run. Last year, the Eagles lost 6-0.
Boston College heads to Florida for a nine-game road trip, including the contest against the hometown professional team. The Eagles begin with a series against Florida Gulf Coast on March 1, 2 and 4 and continue with FIU (March 6) and FAU (March 7), before ending with their first Atlantic Coast Conference series against Miami (March 9-11).
BC opens the 2012 season this weekend, playing Virginia (Feb. 17), James Madison (Feb. 18) and Coastal Carolina (Feb. 19) in Conway, S.C., at the Caravelle Resort Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina.
