Former Boston College pitcher Chris Lambert was recently named the fourth best prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization according to Baseball America magazine.
The magazine releases each Major League team's best prospects annually and featured Lambert as one of the Cardinals' best. The righthander started 2005 in Class A Palm Beach for the Cardinals, earning a record of 7-1 with a 2.63 ERA, and ended the season at the AA affiliate in Springfield.
Lambert recently pitched for Team USA in the Olympic Regional Qualifying Tournament, tossing five scoreless innings and striking out nine in a win against Guatamala, helping the team advance to the next round in August.
While at Boston College, Lambert earned all-American honors twice and and all-conference honors three times. He finished his career as the Eagles all-time strikeout (282) and ERA (2.84) leader before being selected No. 19 overall by the Cardinals in 2004.
