CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College powered its way to a 16-11 BIG EAST victory over Providence at Shea Field on April 7.
The Eagles (11-12) pounded six home runs, including two each by senior Sean McGowan and junior Eric Olson. McGowan finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Olson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
With BC down 6-4, the Eagles exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The highlight of the frame was back-to-back home runs by McGowan and junior Stephen Langone. Langone went 5-for-5 with two home runs and two RBIs. In addition, Langone hurled 7.1 innings and earned his third win of the season.
Sophomore Mike Hubbard also hit a round-tripper. Hubbard's home run came in the Eagles' first at bat.
Each of BC's nine starters collected at least one hit.
The Eagles return to action when they face Harvard on April 13. The doubleheader will start at 2 p.m. on BC's Shea Field.
