Baseball Plays To 3-3 Tie

LANTANA, Fla. - After an exciting walk-off win earlier in the afternoon, the Eagles took on the Monmouth Hawks in the second game of their double-header. Each team exchanged leads but neither was able to break the game open, and the two squads played to a 3-3 tie through nine innings. The game did not continue due to darkness.
The Eagles would get to starter Kyle Breese quickly as Johnny Ayers tripled to left center in the top of the first. Ayers would score on a throwing error by the Hawks to give BC an early 1-0 lead.
BC would hold that lead until the bottom of the fourth inning when Monmouth took advantage of two BC throwing errors and scored twice on one hit off of Eagles starter Kurt Hayer to take a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the next frame, Joseph Ayers would single and Johnny Ayers walked, putting the first two runners on for BC. Two batters later, Jared McGuire would reach on a fielding error, and Joe Ayers would score, tying the game at 2-2.
The Eagles would reclaim the lead in the top of the sixth after a RBI double from Johnny Ayers. The Hawks would tie the game again though, when freshman Geoff Oxley put the first two batters on base in the bottom of the seventh, and surrrendered an RBI single. The game would remain knotted at three through nine innings.
BC will head north to Durham, N.C. where they will begin their ACC schedule against the Blue Devils of Duke University on Friday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m.
