TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sean Gilmartin allowed one run on three hits to lead Florida State to a 4-1 win Friday night against the Boston College baseball team in front of 4,569 at Dick Howser Stadium. Junior Barry Butera was responsible for the Eagles' run with a solo home run in the second inning.
Gilmartin threw 8.0 innings and allowed two walks while striking out eight. He threw just 91 pitches in his outing to improve to 3-0 on the year.
Senior JB MacDonald had a good outing for the Eagles, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing four runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked four.

Florida State struck immediately with a run in the bottom of the first inning. After senior JB MacDonald retired the first two batters, Mike McGee hit the gap in right-center for a double and Jason Stidham followed suit with one down the right field line to give the Seminoles a 1-0 lead.
BC got the run back quickly in the top of the second when Butera hit his first home run of the season over the wall in right-center.
The Seminoles picked up two more runs in the third inning and that is all they would need. Stephen Cardullo led off with a double past a diving Mike Belfiore at first base then McGee hit a two-run homer to right-center on a 2-2 count to put FSU up 3-1.
Gilmartin retired 13-consecutive Eagles from the second inning to the sixth. Following the home run to Butera in the second inning, he did not allow another hit until the seventh.
Ohmed Danesh tacked on the fourth Florida State run in the sixth inning with a solo homer to right field on a full count.
McGee finished 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of RBI for FSU (7-3, 1-0 ACC). Stephen Cardullo also recorded two hits for the Seminoles.
