AS A SOPHOMORE: Hit .286 with four hits in 14 at bats ... doubled to lead off the 14th inning and scored the game-winning run on a suicide-squeeze play to give BC the 3-2 victory over Seton Hall (May 6).
AS A FRESHMAN: Went 1-for-4 (.250) at the plate with one run batted in … drove in his run against Holy Cross (April 18) … made two putouts vs. Georgetown (April 30).
BEFORE BC: Four-year member of the St. Peter-Marian baseball team, climaxing into a captainship during his senior campaign … named to the Telegram & Gazette’s Dream Team his senior year … gained Central Massachusetts Conference all-star accolades his last two seasons of high school.
PERSONAL: Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences … a well-rounded athlete, he was a member of the two-time Division II football Super Bowl champion team … voted class president his freshman and sophomore years … earned the school’s Renaissance Scholar-Athlete award (97-98) … Vinny is the oldest of Eileen and Phil Scavone’s two children.
