Michael Patrick Quirk, born May 4, 1978...Played in the Park Summer League, helping Mass. Envelope gain the league title in 1998.

AS A JUNIOR: One of three Eagles to start all 48 games Batted .295 with 13 doubles (2nd on the team) and four home runs, driving in 41 RBIs total Stole six bases in seven attempts; his total ranked second on the team committed no errors with 107 putouts and five assists Post training trip, connected on two hits in seven games, had three hits, three times and four hits in a game once Contributed at least two RBIs in seven games, driving in a season-best four RBIs against Holy Cross April 20 Went 3-for-3 against UConn May 1 then 4-for-8 against the Huskies the next day Made two hits in four at-bats with three RBIs vs. Rhode Island March 30 Went 3-for-5 against Notre Dame April 17; also had a 3-for-5 outing against the BIG GREEN while knocking in two runs.

AS A SOPHOMORE: Played in 31 games; made 27 starts missed the season's final six games because of a hamstring injury finished third among Eagle regulars with a .352 batting average; registered 38 hits in 108 official plate appearances ranked 14th in the nation with 15 doubles notched one home run - in a win over Northeastern on April 7 finished with a .519 slugging percentage had 13 multiple-hit games, including two, three-hit games and one four-hit effort also recorded six multiple-RBI games was 4-for-7 with two doubles in a doubleheader against Notre Dame on April 4 also had back-to-back two-hit games at Rutgers on April 11 recorded two doubles and three RBIs in a 9-8 Beanpot victory over Northeastern in Fenway Park on April 23 threw one inning on the mound, making a relief appearance at Harvard on April 14.

AS A FRESHMAN: Appeared in 21 games, making 14 starts ... batted .200; recorded 12 hits, five for extra bases, and seven RBI's ... picked up his first collegiate hit, a double, and drove in one run against Brown on April 8 ... went 4-for-5 with one triple and one RBI at Pittsburgh on April 14 ... had three hits, including one double and three RBIs against Northeastern on May 2.

BEFORE BC: Earned Worcester Telegram & Gazette all-star honors as a pitcher/outfielder at St. John's (Shrewsbury) in 1996 ... was a two-time Central Mass. Conference all-star selection ... served as team captain as a senior ... finished his final season with an 8-2 pitching record and a 2.19 earned run average ... also contributed offensively, hitting .419 ... was 7-1 with a 2.10 earned run average on the mound as a junior, leading St. John's to the state title game; also had a .368 batting average in 1995 ... played for head coach Bill White ... was a member of the West Boylston Post 204 Legion team that placed fourth in the 1995 state tournament ... also captained his school's soccer team ... spent his freshman year at Phillips Exeter (NH) Academy, before moving to Wachusett Regional as a sophomore and then to St. John's for his final two years.

PERSONAL: Enrolled as a psychology major in the College of Arts & Sciences ... Mike is the oldest of Janice and Mark Quirk's three sons.
