AS A FRESHMAN: Had not given up a hit nor run in 4.0 innings pitched ... struck out four of the 12 batters that he faced and walked none.
BEFORE BC: Led the Ashland High School baseball team to a Division III state championship his senior year … Named Boston Globe Massachusetts Division III Player of the Year, South Section MVP, and received Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors … went a perfect 11-0 on the mound that season and was also named Tri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year … received Dual County League as well as Lowell Sun all-star recognition his sophomore and junior seasons at Bedford High School
PERSONAL: Enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences … a fine student-athlete, Matt made honor roll every term during his freshman and junior years at Bedford …earned Tri-Valley basketball MVP honors his senior year after averaging a school-record 31 points per game … in his junior basketball season at Bedford, he joined the Dual County League all-star list… Matt is one of Carolyn and Joseph O’Donnell’s four children.
