Stephen Xavior Langone, born January 12, 1978 ... a versatile performer, who rates among the nation's premier hitters, is also one of the Eagles' top hurlers.

AS A JUNIOR: Named to All-BIG EAST second team as a DH and All-New England first team Started all 47 games he playedÂÂ? Posted a .332 batting average Tied McGowan for a team-leading 60 runs scored Second on team in extra-base hits (24), home runs (13) and RBIs (46) Compiled team's best pitching record of 8-4 in 15 appearances with five complete-game efforts ÂÂ?earned two saves Hit a grand slam vs. Harvard (April 13) and pitched a seven-inning complete game Was BIG EAST Pitcher-of-the-Week (May 17) after his two conference wins over WVU (5-4; 5-0)... In 10 innings, gave up nine hits, no runs and walked only one and striking out 13 in that series; struck out a career-high 13 batters in final game of the three-game WVU series... AS A SOPHOMORE: Only Eagle to play and start all 41 games earned All-BIG EAST second team ...played in the 1998 New England All-Star Game; recorded two hits (June 1) at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn. finished with a .401 batting average (57-for-142) ranked second on the team in RBIs (36), slugging percentage (.697), total bases (99) and runs scored (41) had 23 extra-base hits - 13 doubles, one triple, nine home runs drove in five runs in each of two games, including the final game of the ND series (April 5); was 3-for-4 with two home runs against the Irish went 4-for-5 with two doubles, one homer, four RBIs in a tie at Providence April 1 led the pitching staff with 10 starts, six complete games and 63.1 innings pitched fanned a team-high 53 batters finished with a 4-5 record and a 5.12 ERA captured BIG EAST Pitcher-of-the-Week by scattering nine hits and not allowing an earned run in a 3-1 win over Providence on April 22; fanned eight batters with no walksÂÂ? struck out a season-high 10 batters against UConn May 2.

AS A FRESHMAN: Made nine mound appearances as a starter ... finished the season with a 4-4 record and a 5.39 ERA ... pitched four complete games, good for a share of the team lead ... was second on the team with 61.0 innings pitched; notched 30 strikeouts and just 13 walks ... picked up his first career win in his first start, striking out five Fordham batters in the process (March 2) ... allowed just one unearned run on six hits and struck out two in beating Seton Hall on March 27; also picked up three hits, one a home run, and two walks in four official at bats.

BEFORE BC: Earned Boston Globe Player of the Year accolades as a senior P/SS at Reading Memorial ... also captured Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors in 1995 and 1996 ... was a three-time Middlesex League all-star; league MVP as a senior ... 1996 team captain ... established school records on the mound and at the plate; completed career as the all-time leader in wins (29) and strikeouts ... also set offensive marks for hits and runs ... led the 1996 team to the state championship, finishing with a 10-0 record and a 0.38 ERA ... had 9-1 pitching records as a junior and as a sophomore ... finished his career with a 29-3 record and a 0.52 ERA ... played for head coach Peter Moscariello ... was a two-time Legion all star; MVP of the 1995 Legion all-star game ... pitched a 14-strikeout, three-hit shutout of Quincy's Morrisette Post 294 in the opening game of the 1995 state tournament ... captained his school's basketball team.
