Coach Gambino Discusses Early Season Successes

The Eagles start a nine-game road trip with the annual Red Sox exhibition game

Mike Gambino enters his second season as a member of Head Coach Pete Hughes' staff. Gambino, who enjoyed a stellar playing career for the Eagles from 1997-2000, joined the BC staff, after spending the past three years in professional baseball.

Gambino played two seasons - 2000 and 2001 - in the Boston Red Sox organization. A middle infielder, he spent the 2000 season with the Augusta Green Jackets of the South Atlantic League, before splitting the 2001 season between Augusta and the Lowell Spinners of the New York-Penn League.

In 2002, Gambino moved into the coaching ranks. Remaining in the Red Sox organization, he began as a special assistant to the major league staff, before taking on a coaching role with the Spinners just prior to the June draft. He served as the Spinners' first base coach, while also working extensively with the team's infielders and hitters.
