GUNSTOCK, NH - The men's ski team continued the season this weekend at both the St. Anslem's Carnival in Gunstock, NH on Saturday and the Smith Carnival down the road at Blackwater, NH on Sunday. The Eagles finished third in both races, which kept them at third place overall in the MacConnell Divison.
Junior Chris Burgart led Saturday's giant slalom race. He finished in third place and was followed by fifth year senior captain Stephen Fiorella, who placed fifth. Stacey Bolger continued a solid sophomore campaign with his eleventh place finish while senior Dylan Robertsfinished twelfth. Junior David Loftus finished sixteenth to close out the top twenty for the Eagles. Plymouth State University and Colby-Sawyer College finished ahead of the Eagles on day one.
Day two at Blackwater's slalom race had a similar result for the Eagles. Stephen Fiorella and Chris Burgart both finished in the top ten, ninth and tenth respectively. Freshman Michael Nocek finished twelfth in the slalom race and Dylan Robertsplaced fifteenth to help the Eagles stay in third place.
The weekend finished with the Eagles five points behind Colby-Sawyer in the MacConnell Division. USCSA Mid-Season Alpine Rankings were released this weekend and the Eagles have found themselves ranked fifth nationally. Last time the rankings were released, the Eagles were in ninth place. The men's ski team will try and close the gap between Colby-Sawyer next weekend at the BC/Brown Carnival at Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire.
