Chestnut Hill, MA - Boston College senior Annie Haeger won her third ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship this afternoon in Chicago, IL. She becomes one of the most decorated sailors in BC history.

Haeger, a native of Illinois, won the event as a freshman and sophomore and finished second by just one point in her junior season.

The Eagles sailor placed first in nine of 18 races. She finished out of the top 10 in just one race all weekend. Haeger won the event with 34 points, while the closest contender for Haeger was Yale's Claire Dennis with 69 points.

The event is sailed in single-person boats, the Laser Radial. The Laser Radial is an Olympic class boat for women as well. With a win this weekend, Haeger will tied Anna Tunnicliffe as the most successful women's singlehanded sailor, claiming three national titles. Tunnicliffe, a 2005 Old Dominon University is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in the Laseer Radial, having won gold in 2008 in Beijing.
