Sailing Wins The Nicholas Barnett Trophy

The Boston College sailing team placed first in the Nicholas Barnett Trophy in-conference regatta hosted by Bowdoin this past weekend. The Eagles defeated Dartmouth by one point, 86-87. Bowdoin was third with 88 points, while Tufts placed fourth with 96.
The Eagles held the lead after Saturday's competition. And on Sunday, the four top teams battled till the end with the Eagles prevailing.
BC's A Division team of freshman Maxwell Simmons and sophomore Emily Vasiliou captured three first place finishes and two second place finishes over the 11 race schedule. The tandem also picked up two third place finishes for 30 total points.
The B Division team of junior Ryan Schmitz and senior Isabelle Salvaterra picked up 56 points over the weekend to place fourth. The team had two second place finishes, three fourth place finishes and ended the weekend of sailing with a third place finish in the final race for 56 total points.
