During the 1997-1998 school year, students Jeff Bridge and Chris Millette embarked on a mission that would change Boston College game atmosphere forever. These two fans planned a way to transform the student section at BC into a sea of gold. That football season, Jeff and Chris had paved the way for the "SuperFan." They created a "Gold Rush Game," for the BC vs. Virginia Tech game of the week on ESPN. SuperFan t-shirts were sold for just a few dollars in the BC Bookstore, and for the game, all BC students wore the gold SuperFan shirts.
This tradition has grown to new "heights" over the past decade. SuperFans are a huge force at Boston College. Rabid fans and have helped BC Athletic teams reach great successes over the past seasons. Chants such as "WE ARE BC" and "LET'S GO EAGLES" ring from Alumni to Gasson on gamedays... and the SuperFan has come to define the Boston College experience.
As a SuperFan, you are a distinct member of the Boston College Community. You are passionate, proud, enthusiastic, energetic, dynamic, and respectful. You arrive early at games to support your team, and you stay after to congratulate them in victory and in defeat. You sing For Boston with heart and soul, and you chant until you have no voice. You are GOLD. You are SPIRITED. You are a BOSTON COLLEGE SUPERFAN.
