Eunicia Salgado to Compete with Team Canada in FIBA U18 AmericaCup

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. Â - Boston College women's basketball incoming freshman Eunicia Salgado will compete with the U18 Canadian National Team in the upcoming FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup 2026.
The team trained at Humber College in Toronto from May 30 to June 5 before traveling to Irapuato, Mexico for the AmeriCup tournament.
The seven-day event will take place at the Inforum Irapuato, featuring Argentina, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, the United States, Venezuela, and host nation Mexico.
Fourth berths are at stake for the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2027.

Canada Starts 2-0 in AmeriCup 2026
- Team Canada has dominated the first two games, winning by an average margin of 57 points.
- Salgado through two games is averaging nine points on 58.3 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds and three steals.Â

Game 2: Canada 96, Dominican Republic 46
- Team Canada used a dominating second half to run away with the contest for a 2-0 start in the event, outscoring the Dominican Republic 51-13 in the final two quarters.
- Salgado posted another nine-point outing with six off the glass. She hit four of her six shots and recorded a plus-28 in 16 minutes, which was second on the team.Â
Game 1: Canada 104, Puerto Rico 40
- Salgado finished with a solid stat line of nine points, a team-high seven rebounds and three steals while shooting 3-of-5 from the field.Â
- She finished the game with a plus/minus of plus-15 in just under 15 minutes of action.
- Canada wasted no time in jumping out to a 37-9 first-quarter lead, and held a lead by as much as 64 points.Â
Salgado, a 6-1 forward from Boucherville, Quebec, was ranked the seventh-best recruit from Canada.
The newcomer helped her team capture Grind Session World titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26, in addition to a WNPA title last season. They became the first Canadian team to bring home a world title. She was named a OSBA First Team All-Star and a WNPA Second-Team All-Star. She garnered All-Grind Session Defensive Team honors and was named Most Improved Player of the Year.
In 2024-25, she claimed a WNPA national title and was an RSEQ First-Team All-Star and the 2024 RSEQ Most Valuable Player.
Canada is currently ranked 3rd overall in the FIBA women's age-group rankings, presented by Nike.
