University of Michigan transfer skates to The Heights to bolster the blue line
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Graduate transfer student Kevin Lohan rounds out the defensive unit as part of the 2017-18 class, but this new Eagle will be trading in his maize and blue for maroon and gold following a four-year career guarding the blue line at the University of Michigan.
The huge 6-foot-5 defenseman has one year of eligibility remaining after gaining a medical redshirt from his junior season and playing in only nine games last season in 2016-17. Lohan was tabbed an assistant captain at Michigan for his veteran leadership on and off the ice. Last season, he was an Academic All-Big Ten selection and named a University of Michigan scholar-athlete as both a junior and senior.
As a sophomore at U of M, the Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. native notched 10 points (2-8-10) in 37 games and led the team with 59 blocked shots. As a freshman, he skated in 16 games.
Before his time in Ann Arbor, Lohan played for the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League during the 2012-13 season and recorded five goals and 18 assists in 54 games. In 2011-12, the defenseman tallied three goals and three assists for the New York Apple Core.
Upon arrival at The Heights, Lohan will be going for his Master's of Science in Sports Administration in the Woods College of Advancing Studies.
