HOW IT HAPPENED
- 16' | BC GOAL: With the Eagles continuing to hold the edge in possession in their attacking half, Heidar Aegisson worked as the fulcrum in the center midfield, swinging the ball out wide right to Joshua Forbes. The right back settled the pass and sent in hard cross to Simon Enstrom just off the six-yard box. Enstrom rose up and got enough height over his defender to head in the ball low and back across for the Eagles' first goal.
- 26' | BC GOAL: With the game's first fouls called just a minute before, the Eagles drew a throw in far down the right sideline. Aegisson took the long throw and connected with Tomas Gudmundsson on the near post. The center back then flicked the ball back, where Enstrom got on the end of the ball and headed it in on an angle to give BC a 2-0 lead.
- 39' | XU GOAL: Xavier pulled one back after a flurry in the box. Jack Bacon made two saves on successive shots, but his second rebound bounced to Josh Grant at the corner of the six-yard box. He played looped the ball centrally to Simen Hestnes, who headed it in to an open goal cut the Eagles' lead to one
- 79' | XU GOAL: Xavier got the equalizer after pushing the play for a spell. The Musketeers had a throw-in on the far side, and the ball worked to the top of the penalty area. Hestnes launched a long shot from outside the area, but Samson Sergi got a foot on it in traffic in the box to redirect it in on the near post.
- 89' | Matt Vasquenza broke against the Eagles' defense on a counter and nearly claimed the full points just before regulation expired. He got off a hard-angled shot from the right edge of the penalty area, but the ball wide kicked off the post, sending the game to overtime.
- 103' | Boston College had a prime chance to win it in double overtime when Travor Davock's shot from 12 yards out was blocked, but landed right at Lasse Lehmann's feet on the near post. His shot, however, was saved as Xavier goalkeeper Zachary Nelson dove acrosse the face of the goal to make the stop.
- 105 ' | XU GOAL: Xavier claimed the winner on near replica of their chance in the 89th minute. Vasquenza broke down the right wing and got deep, sending a hard-angle shot on that this time found enough space to sneak the ball in behind Antonio Chavez Borrelli for the game-winner.
