The Green Bay native comes to Chestnut Hill to guard the blueline
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Powerful blueliner Michael Karow is the first defenseman to be introduced to The Heights in 2017-18 following a career with the Youngstown Phantoms.

The Green Bay, Wis. native was awarded for his astute play last season, earning a spot on the USHL All-Rookie Second Team after registering 21 points (4-17-21) in 58 games from the blue line. He was also named the United States Hockey League Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Karow graduated from Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio, where he was ranked 10th in his class with a 3.9 unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. In addition to his course work and athletic achievements, he was at the forefront of community service in the Youngstown, spending time at the local food bank, teaching young students about the importance of education, while emphasizing the importance of health and wellness.

The 6-foot-2 defenseman split time between Team Wisconsin and Notre Dame Academy in 2015-16.

Karow started with Team Wisconsin, tallying three goals and 10 assists in 20 games. He concluded the season at Notre Dame Academy where he was named team captain and logged 17 points (3-14-17). While there, he earned a spot on First-Team All-Conference squad and honorable mention on the All-State team.
