Women's XC Finishes 10th at Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown

Six Eagles broke 19 minutes
Boston, Mass. – The Boston College women's cross country team finished in tenth place with 321 points at the fifth annual Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park on Friday afternoon.
Six Eagles broke 19 minutes while junior Ashbrook Gwinn crossed the line first, finishing the 5K race in 17:35. She finished in 16th place overall in a field of 188 runners.
The women competed against 23 teams, four of which are ranked among the top 30 in the NCAA according to the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coach's Association. Providence (No. 7), Indiana (No.26), Georgetown (No. 27) and Harvard (No. 28) were among the ranked teams.Â

BC's Top Finishers:

BC Highlights
- Gwinn finished in the top 20 with a time of 17:35, averaging 5:40 per mile.
- Classmate Clarissa Modde crossed the line in the 65th position at 18:31 while senior Laura Leff finished in 76th with a time of 18:38. Freshman Lauren White was not far behind as she completed the 5K race in 18:42 for an 83rd place finish overall.
- Sophomore Paige Duca and freshman Kylee Raftis rounded out the top five scorers for the Eagles. Duca crossed the line in 93rd place at 18:50 and Raftis took the 98th position with a time of 18:52 as the sixth Eagle to break the 19 minute mark on the day.
- Junior Delia Hayes took 103rd place overall, crossing the line at 18:54 and freshman Katherine Deloreto was the 127th finisher at 19:11.
- Providence won the meet with 71 points. The Friars were followed by Indiana and Georgetown, both of which had 78 points.
- Elinor Purrier of New Hampshire was the individual winner, crossing the line at 16:49.
The Eagles will return to Franklin Park to compete in the New England Championships on Oct. 7 at 12:30 p.m.
