
Eagles Wrap Up Beantown Challenge

Volleyball went 1-2 during the Beantown Challenge after a loss to tournament-winner North Texas.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Lynn Braakhuis was chosen as Boston College volleyball's all-star during their last match of the Beantown Challenge tournament after dropping the match to North Texas, 3-1.
The Eagles (2-4) picked up a first-set win over the Mean Green (5-1), but were unable to stage a comeback, even after a steady rally in the fourth set.
Braakhuis added 13 points and 11 kills to BC's effort, while Cat Balido hit .324 from 16 kills. Ally Mullen hit a team-high .417 during the match.
North Texas was paced by Barbara Teakell, who recorded 19 points, 17 kills and showed up defensively with team-high 14 digs. Mean Green's MVP Amanda Chamberlain hit .600 from 12 kills. The team went undefeated this weekend, 3-0, and won the tournament.
The Eagles will hit the road next and take on Temple on September 8 at 7 p.m.

- McKenna Goss hit set-high five kills in the first set, resulting in set-high five points.
- Mullen averaged .800 during the first set.

- Balido had a set-high six points during the third set.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Mullen opened scoring in the set with a kill which the Eagles rode for a 4-1 run. The Eagles and the Mean Green rallied for almost the entirety of the set, but after being tied at 23-all, BC used a North Texas error and an ace from Braakhuis to secure the last two points, 25-23.
SET 2
North Texas commenced the set on a 7-1 run and commanded the lead for the totality of the set, winning 25-15.
SET 3
A Balido kill opens scoring for the Eagles, who maintained the lead right away. North Texas caught up and the teams spent some time trading points until the Mean Green captured the win, 25-19.
SET 4
After a 6-1 run from North Texas, a kill from Calvete broke up North Texas' efforts. Though BC trailed, they began to slowly rally after Naughton served up an ace, but North Texas took the final points, 26-24, and the match.
