HOW IT HAPPENED
GOAL: Boston College 1, Colgate 0 – 14th minute: Elysa Virella one-touched a ball to Sam Coffey right outside the box. Coffey took two dribbles through the Colgate defense and placed the ball from 10 yards out to the near post for a 1-0 lead.
GOAL: Boston College 2, Colgate 0 – 23rd minute: Senior Lauren Berman scored her second goal of the year on a great buildup from the back. Elysa Virella sent Jenna Bike down the sideline. Bike found Coffey in the middle of the field at about 30 yards out from the goal. She one-timed the ball to her left to connect with Berman. The Eagles captain found the back of the net from 15-yards out for a 2-0 BC lead.
GOAL: Boston College 3, Colgate 0 – 46th minute: Rookie Gianna Mitchell sent a header into the far corner off a cross from Sam Coffey. The Eagles played a short corner to Olivia Vaughn. The sophomore sent it back to Coffey who placed a perfect ball to the center of the box. Mitchell rose above the Colgate defenders to direct the ball into the corner.
GOAL: Boston College 4, Colgate 0 – 54th minute: The next goal was all hustle on the part of sophomore Jenna Bike. The second-year forward scored her first goal of the season in the 54th minute. GOAL: Boston College 5, Colgate 1 – 63rd minute: Sophomore Erin Convery got on the end of a corner from Sam Coffey and placed it into the far corner for a 5-1 BC lead.
COACH'S QUOTE
Head Coach Alison Foley:
"I was happy we focused on a couple of our goals today. We are a creative, fast team up top but it's imperative we finish our early opportunities. We did that today. We also focused on set pieces, especially our attacking corners and I was pleased we scored on two of the first three.''
"We know this group is going to learn and develop a lot through the early stage of our season and this was a good example of that.''
