Allen leads the way with career-high 14 tackles; Landry records three sacks
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Senior defensive end Harold Landry recorded his 26th career sack and junior defensive end Zach Allen had a career-high 14 tackles as Boston College fell to Virginia Tech, 23-10, on Saturday night at Alumni Stadium.

Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson completed a 53-yard touchdown pass to Sean Savoy to give the Hokies (5-1, 1-1 ACC) an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter. They would maintain that lead for the rest of the game.

Boston College (2-4, 0-3 ACC) scored a touchdown in the final quarter off of a trick play in which junior wide receiver Jeff Smith passed to redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown for a 25-yard touchdown. The Eagles drove 58 yards on their ensuing drive, but could not convert a fourth down and the score held, 23-10.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Landry recorded his 26th career sack to move to sole possession of second place on BC's all-time list. Landry had three sacks during the game, which tied for the second-best, single-game total in BC history. The sack was Landry's 47th career tackle for loss, moving him into second place in BC history.
- Allen had a career-high 14 tackles, leading all players in the game. He also recorded a career-high three tackles for loss and had one sack.
- Freshman running back Travis Levy hauled in a season-high three passes for 42 yards, including a career-long, 24-yard reception.
- The BC defense's five sacks was a season high.
- Senior cornerback Isaac Yiadom recorded his second interception of the season. He now has three career INTs.
- Redshirt freshman linebacker John Lamot finished with a career-high nine tackles, while junior defensive back Lukas Denis had 10 on the night.
- Smith's touchdown to Brown was Brown's first touchdown reception of his career. For Smith - a former BC signal caller - it was his first TD pass of the season and the fourth of his career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After three straight completed passes from Jackson to Cam Phillips, Savoy and Travon McMillian, Jackson converted a 53-yard touchdown pass to Savoy to give Virginia Tech a 7-0 lead with 8:26 to play in the first quarter.
- On the following drive, Brown completed a 22-yard pass to redshirt junior running back Jon Hilliman to set the Eagles up on their own 49-yard line. After an 11-yard rush by senior wide receiver Thadd Smith and a three-yard completion to junior wide receiver Michael Walker, junior Colton Lichtenberg kicked a 32-yard field at 5:24 to it 7-3.
- Tackles from senior linebacker Ty Schwab and Allen held the Hokies to a field goal as Joey Slye converted a 34-yarder at 11:33 in the second quarter to make it a 10-3 game.
- After a 12-play scoring drive covering 68 yards, McMillian rushed for a 23-yard touchdown run with 6:19 to go in the first half to increase the Hokies lead, 17-3.
- Virginia Tech opened the second half with an eight play, 64-yard scoring drive that ended with a 29-yard field goal by Slye. Jackson threw a 46-yard pass to Henri Murphy to set the Hokies up at the BC nine-yard line, but the Eagles held them to just a field goal.
- Jackson converted a 20-yard pass to Dalton Keene but a tackle by Allen held the Hokies to a 26-yard field goal by Slye with 6:40 left.
- A 27-yard run by Smith followed by a 23-yard pass from Brown to junior tight end Tommy Sweeney, set the Eagles up at the Virginia Tech 25-yard line. In a trick play, Smith passed to Brown for a 25-yard score to make it 23-10 with 5:38 to play.
