Eagles voted to finish tied for sixth in Atlantic Division
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Atlantic Coast Conference released the preseason coaches' poll on Wednesday morning and the Boston College baseball team was voted to tie for sixth place in the Atlantic Division by the league's 14 head coaches. Florida State was selected as the preseason favorite to win the conference title, while North Carolina was picked as the favorite in the Coastal Division.

The Eagles were one of the record 10 ACC teams to make the NCAA Tournament in 2016 and one of four to advance to the Super Regional round. They returned to the postseason in 2016 for the first time since 2010 and advancing to their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance, the first since 2009. The eighth seed in the 2016 ACC Championships, it was their third appearance in the league tournament since BC joined in 2006.
Â
BC swept the Oxford Regional as the three seed to advance to the program's first-ever Super Regional, advancing on for the first time in 49 years. The Eagles notched a 35-22 overall record a year ago, going 13-15 in the ACC. The 35 overall wins were the most since BC went 37-20 in 2005 and the 13 ACC wins are the most since 2010, when the Eagles were 14-16.
Â
The ACC Baseball Championships increased from 10 to 12 teams and will feature a pool-play format, leading into a four-team, single-elimination bracket to determine the league champion. The event will be held May 23-28 at Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Ky.
Â
The Eagles open the 2017 season on Friday, Feb. 17 with a three-game set at Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla. The first ACC series will be against top-pick Florida State beginning on March 10.
