The Atlantic Coast Conference is holding the 2016-17 media day for women's basketball season at the Westin Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. Head Coach Erik Johnson along with senior guard Kelly Hughes and sophomore center Mariella Fasoula will be in attendance representing the Eagles.
The Eagles return three starters from the 2015-16 team – Hughes, Fasoula and Martina Mosetti. Also returning for the 2016-17 team were regular contributors senior guard Emilee Daley, senior forward Kailey Edwards, junior forward Ella Awobajo and junior Katie Quandt. Sophomore guard Stephanie Jones also returns with one year of valuable experience along with junior guard Rachel Gartner.
The Eagles also welcome five freshmen in forward Jasmine Taylor, forward Georgia Pineau, guard Taylor Ortlepp, forward/center Emma Guy and center Shannon Ryan.

This morning the conference released the Blue Ribbon Panel Poll and ACC Head Coaches Preseason Poll, along with preseason individual honors. The Eagles were selected to finish 14th in the regular season by the Blue Ribbon Panel and 13th in the Head Coaches Poll.
Notre Dame was picked to finished first in both polls. The top five teams according to the Coaches Poll were Notre Dame (13 first place votes), Louisville (one first place vote), Florida State (one first place vote), Syracuse and Miami. Duke was sixth in the poll, followed by NC State (7), Georgia Tech (8), North Carolina (9), Virginia (10), Wake Forest (11), Virginia Tech (12), BC (13), Pittsburgh (14) and Clemson (15).
The Blue Ribbon Panel poll went as follows – Notre Dame, Louisville, Florida State, Syracuse and Miami as the top five.
In other ACC news, the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Tournament will be held March 1-5 at the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. This year's ACC Women's Basketball Tournament will feature all 15 league teams. Play opens with three first-round games on Wednesday, March 1, and concludes with the championship game on Sunday, March 5.
The first three days of the tournament (first round, second round and quarterfinals) are set to be carried by the ACC Network. Saturday afternoon's semifinal games (12 noon and 2:30 p.m.) will be carried by ESPNU, with Sunday's 1 p.m. championship game scheduled to air on ESPN2.
