Fred Willis '71
- A hard-running halfback, he was the first Eagle rusher to
surpass 1,000 yards rushing in a single season when he raced
for 1,107 in his senior year. He was voted All-America and
All-East for his superlative football talent.
- Established a career rushing mark with 2,115 yards in just
three varsity seasons. He played in the Senior Bowl and Blue-
Gray Game following his collegiate career.
- Played professional football with the Cincinnati Bengals and
Houston Oilers, winning All-Pro honors several times and
establishing a pass receiving record for running backs in
the American Football Conference.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1977.
