Mary Ellen Sullivan '78

- A three-time All-New England selection in free-style and breaststroke competition, she was instrumental in Boston College's 35 consecutive dual meet victories from 1975 through 1978.

- Twice elected captain of the women's swimming team.

- Played water polo for four seasons, twice winning All-New England honors in that sport.

- Was the first winner of the Nathaniel J. Hasenfus "Eagle of the Year" Award as the outstanding female student-athlete in her graduating class.

- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986.
