John Silk '53
- A high-scoring forward with exceptional quickness, he scored
859 points in his three varsity seasons.
- Among his many memorable moments while wearing the maroon
and gold was a BC victory over defending NCAA champion CCNY
before a capacity crowd at Madison Square Garden. Silk led
BC scorers in that game, the Eagles' first ever in "The
World's Most Famous Arena."
- The following year, he scored 24 points in helping BC to its
first win over archrival Holy Cross in 27 years. He was also
captain of the 1953 squad.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1978.
