Margo Plotzke
- Established in 1991, the William J. Donlon Special
Achievement Award is given to those individuals who, in the
judgment of the Varsity Club Hall of Fame Selection
Committee, have demonstrated uncommon dedication and
performed supererogatory service to Boston College
athletics, both on and off the fields of play. The award is
named in honor of Reverend William J. Donlon '31, in
recognition of more than sixty years participation, service,
and devotion.
- As the first full-time coach of any women's sport at
Boston College, Margo Plotzke was a trailblazer in
the growth and success of the University's women's
athletic program.
- In 13 years as a head coach, her teams won 177
games. More importantly, she oversaw the
development of the Boston College Women's
Basketball program from Division II competition to
the highest levels of achievement in the Big East
Conference.
- She coached with energy, passion and a clear
commitment to her sport and to Boston College. In
turn, her players excelled on the court, in the
classroom and in the community.
