- Jay Murphy was one of the main reasons why Boston College

Elite Eight - and one NIT in his four seasons (1980-84).
- A two-year team captain, the Meriden, Conn., product led BC
to an 88-36 record in his four seasons, and was a three-time
BIG EAST honoree. He currently ranks sixth on the school's
career scoring list (1,795 points) and seventh on the career
rebounding list (763 rebounds).
- Murphy was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the
31st pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. He played four seasons in
the NBA - two each with the Los Angeles Clippers and
Washington Bullets - before concluding his illustrious
career in Europe (France and Italy).
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1999.
