Jack Magee'59
- The leading scorer on the first Eagle hoop squad to make the
NCAA Tournament, this center averaged 15.5 points per game
as Boston College went 16-6 in his junior season.
- Magee and fellow BC Hall of Famer George Giersch were the
heroes of a historic 1958 game against Holy Cross, when the
Eagles defeated the Crusaders in Worcester for the first
time, 73-68.
- After a senior season in which the Eagles went 17-9, Magee
spent two years in the Army before returning to BC as an
assistant coach. Magee later was an assistant to Coach Bob
Cousy for three seasons before becoming head coach at
Georgetown in 1966.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1986.
