Frank Fitzgerald '71
- Frank came to Boston College from Saint Joseph's High School
in Metuchen, N.J., and enjoyed an outstanding career under
coaches Bob Cousy (1968-69) and Chuck Daly (1969-71).
- Often overshadowed by star teammates like Terry Driscoll,
Billy Evans and Jim O'Brien, Fitzgerald played a key role in
each of his three varsity seasons. He finished his career
with 1,042 points and 538 rebounds in 78 games.
- Among his most memorable moments was a last-second jump shot
against Saint Joseph's on Jan. 5, 1969 that gave BC a 76-74
victory in the Palestra. That victory began a 19-game
winning streak that didn't end until the National Invitation
Tournament's title game.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1990.
